Up and at it, bright and early this morning with Mom, Dad, Morgan and Marissa, about to hike up the Diamond Head Crater. It was important to us to take this photo on the way up, because we knew on the way down, it was not going to be a pretty sight. Sad to report the Dominque and Ms. Marilyn backed out on joining us for the morning hike.
Mom and Dad bringing up the rear on the way to the top. Looking good with smiles on their faces.
Morgan doing what she does best, being our videographer for the trip and Marissa enjoying the views and this short break we took.
Ok, I was going to act like this was a natural picture, but it was super staged and I had them standing like this for a long time, while others stopped walking, to capture this picture.

Here is the second set of stairs that we reached that called for a moment of prayer and deep thought on if we really wanted to make it to the top. Mom was very inspired to finish the hike because we spotted an 80 year old man with a cane, slowly but surely making his way to the top.
After walking up a flight of steep steps, we were faced with a third set of steps through a spiral staircase. Dad said, "The Lord really does have a sense of humor, except this time, Lord, it ain't funny". LOL Making it to the top of these steps brought a smirk to mom's face.
Rissa was glad to finally get a chance to sit down and catch her breath.
After about 1.5 miles we reached the top of the Diamond Head Crater which is the only location on the island that you can vie the entire island from one location. This view was definitely worth the tiresome wait.
I can truly say that I am so proud of my hiking journey thus far. I made a promise that I would hike a trail, every day up until we left for Hawaii. Although, it was never easy, I took it very seriously because I wanted to hike the Diamond Head Crater with no problem. Today, I led the way and felt very accomplished because although I did sweat heavily, I was never short of breath and felt like I could do it all over again. Success!!!
Double Trouble, Morgan and Marissa hanging loose and enjoying their time at the top.
You can truly see the difference between how happy we were to begin our journey to how happy we were to end our journey. Although, we were glad we made it, we were in need of some much needed rest. Time to start our journey down.
"Hey, I know those people. "On the way down, we spotted some familiar faces. Mr. Melvin, Mr. Cliff and Mrs. Ruby making their way to the top. Good luck to all that aspire to make the journey to the top of Diamond Head Crater. Reward yourself at the conclusion of the hike and purchase a t-shirt that says, "I hiked Diamond Head"!
